Privacy Policy – React AI Summarizer Chrome Extension

1. Introduction

React AI Summarizer is a Chrome extension designed to generate AI-powered summaries of articles you are reading. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

2. Information We Access

The extension requires the following:

  • Active Tab URL:
    The extension reads the URL of the currently active tab only when you click the “Summarize” button. This URL is sent to the RapidAPI service to generate a summary.
  • Optional clipboard access:
    If you copy the summary using the extension’s copy button, it temporarily accesses your clipboard.

No other browsing data, personal information, or content is accessed.

3. Data Usage

  • The URL or page content is sent to the RapidAPI article summarization API.
  • No data is stored locally or remotely by the extension.
  • The API only returns the generated summary, which is displayed in the popup.
  • Data is not shared, sold, or used for any other purposes.

4. Permissions

The extension uses only the following Chrome permissions:

  • activeTab – to access the current tab URL on user action only.
  • storage – to store optional history of summarized articles locally in your browser.
  • host_permissions – access to https://article-extractor-and-summarizer.p.rapidapi.com/* for the AI summarization API.

No other permissions are requested.

5. Security

  • All API requests use HTTPS.
  • No external JavaScript or code is loaded from the web at runtime.
  • Your data remains in your browser and is only transmitted to RapidAPI when you summarize an article.

6. Third-Party Services

This extension uses:

  • RapidAPI – provides the AI summarization service.
  • No other third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services are used.

7. Children’s Privacy

This extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The latest version will always be included in the extension package or documentation.
